January 16th 2012 : Finally got some time to hang out at the airport on MLK day - brought along a new camera Santa brought to take some test shots. I was in the area of the Papa clubhouse from about 2-4pm - and here's what I saw. (One of my favorite King Air shots yet...). Don & Gary’s Excellent Breakfast, Saturday, August 20th : Don Smith led a team that outdid themselves for breakfast: scrambled eggs with tortillas & a touch of cumin, sauteed mushrooms & red peppers, pancakes, juice, coffee & more. Plus a surprise visit and runup of Steve Phillips' 28-cylinder Pratt & Whitney Wasp Major aircraft engine!

Preparing for a Clubhouse : None of this would have happened if it were not for the vision of fine men like Joe Pittelkow, Roger Willis and Marc Ashton, the Support of Bob Patterson and his boss Vince and the generous donation of Joe Grzebik and his partners at Gobal PavIng, giving at no charge this wonderful Hangar/Clubhouse. These photo's, although I'm not able to put them in order, because of three pages, it shows what happened after we got permission to move our hangar to it's new location, after drawings and permits were handled, we only had a little over a week to get this all done, in another gallery we will show the moving the hangar. What blew me away the most was, people who gave so much of their time and money, like Rob Clark, Paul Kuersten, Pat Nelson, Marvin Augustine,Jordan, Glynn Burchette, Razz and Al Kaplin are not PAPA members, yet they were instrumental in having this dream come true! Last but not least, our PAPA members over the years who saved the money to fund this building project! Enjoy!

Don and Gary's "Excellent Breakfast" 3 : When our new officers took over a couple of years ago, I told my favorite Uncle, Don Smith, that I would like to help unite the whole airport, their was about three different fractions, he said let's have a breakfast and invite everyone, we did and it worked, we have had 4 so far and plan another on in March 2010.

PAPA BBQ, failed poker run 3-08 : This was our second event of the year 2008, we wanted to try and start the year off right with a IFR Poker Run, no one was current, so we drank beer and ate chicken instead." Cousin Bob" and "Big Papa" did the cooking, "Uncle Don" and D Wayne were in jail.

Display Day, October 2009 : The Petaluma Airport hosts monthly Display Days that provide free public access to both local and visiting aircraft. Other than December, there’s a Display Day on the third Saturday of every month (weather permitting.) October’s Display Day was on Saturday the 17th. The morning’s low overcast and gray skies burned off before Noon to a beautiful Fall day. We had over two dozen planes on display, including five (5!) vintage Stearman biplanes and a red Waco. Also a T-34 Mentor, Bonanza, several Cessnas, and more. PAPA volunteers were out in force to guide planes to and from parking, monitor the safety ropes delineating the public area, talk with visitors, pin Pilot Wings on future aviators, and staff the hot dog stand. More than 100 visitors came by during the course of the event between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Don’t miss the next one, scheduled for Saturday, November 21st. Both volunteers and visitors are needed!
